The OSSM Society’s purpose is to promote the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics: Oklahoma’s two year, public, residential high school for juniors and seniors with exceptional ability in science and mathematics.  We also serve as a support organization for OSSM Alumni.  

All OSSM alumni and their parents, OSSM faculty and staff, and other individuals indicating a desire to belong are members of The Society.  The Society was founded in September 1995 by alumni parents and friends of OSSM who wanted to improve Oklahoma secondary education by supporting OSSM as well as OSSM students past, present, and future.

The Society’s active committees seek ways to inform Oklahomans about OSSM and help with Alumni activities.  Examples include:

Publicity Outreach/Materials Committee

• Develops and distributes publicity materials to promote OSSM. 
• Represents and assists OSSM at/with academic competitions and conferences to inform the attendees about OSSM.
• Assists with OSSM Events as requested such as with Parent’s Day activities.

Alumni/Reunion Committee

• Supports the OSSM Alumni Association particularly through organization of alumni reunions.
• Coordinates Alumni contact information.

Website Committee

• Maintains and moderates an online website providing information about and a forum for OSSM Society Members, particularly alumni.

Fund Raising Committee

• Solicits contributions from individual members of the Society and sponsors fundraising activities. 
• Fundraisers have included a fashion show and sales of a calendar featuring fashion photos with OSSM student models.  Currently, a cookbook is being developed which features recipes submitted by alumni, parents, OSSM staff, and others.
• Donations to the OSSM Society have been used to fund publicity materials, alumni activities, the annual Ralph Spencer Service Award presented to a current OSSM graduate, a Society Website, etc.
