RALPH G. SPENCER 1927-2011
Ralph Spencer was an enthusiastic advocate for the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. Ralph’s grandson, Daniel Spencer, graduated from OSSM in the Class of 1995. Ralph was a principal member of the committee that founded the OSSM Society. He served on the Society’s Board of Trustees and was a strong contributor to the work of the Society for many years.
The Society’s “Ralph Spencer Award” was created to recognize Ralph’s contributions to OSSM and is presented annually to the graduating senior whose public service best exemplifies Ralph’s spirit of service to the community. The Society’s purpose is to promote OSSM and to serve as a support organization for OSSM alumni.
Ralph Spencer was a kind, generous man who left a legacy with the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. Because of his love of his family and his commitment to service, the OSSM Society created the Ralph Spencer Community Service Award. The award is presented to the senior who best exemplifies the spirit of service that Mr. Spencer practiced. Ralph stood ready to help any student in the school or any member of our community. He willingly stepped forward and volunteered for any task that was needed. Ralph Spencer was a good man who will be missed, but his spirit will always be part of the community at OSSM.”
—Dr. Edna Manning, OSSM President
